Josh Hart

Josh Hart is a professional basketball player and small forward/guard for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association. Known for his defensive versatility, rebounding, and consistent contributions on both ends of the court, Hart has built a reputation as one of the NBA's most complete team players. He holds the Knicks franchise record for the most triple-doubles in a single season and has earned the nickname Ironman with the Knicks, becoming the only player after Clyde Frazier and Jerry Lucas in franchise history to play all 48 minutes in a regular season game.

Before his professional career, Hart established himself as one of the most decorated players in Villanova Wildcats history. He was named Big East Tournament Most Outstanding Player as a sophomore, earned third-team All-American honors as a junior, and was a consensus first-team All-American as a senior. Hart helped lead Villanova to a national championship, scoring 23 points in the Final Four against Oklahoma and 12 points in the title game against North Carolina. He became the first Villanova player to receive the Julius Erving Award, given to the nation's top small forward, and was named both Big East and Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Year. Hart finished his college career as the only Villanova player to record at least 1,900 points, 800 rebounds, 250 assists, and 150 steals, and his jersey number 3 was retired by the Villanova Wildcats.

Hart was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft as the 30th overall pick by the Utah Jazz before being traded on draft night to the Los Angeles Lakers. He played two seasons for the Lakers before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, then spent three seasons with the Pelicans before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, and was ultimately traded to the New York Knicks. Hart became essential to the franchise after joining New York, following nine seasons, four teams, three trades, and seven head coaches.

Hart's impact was highlighted during the Knicks' run to the NBA Finals. He faced significant challenges, including surgery on his right ring finger after a playoff injury and nerve damage in his shooting hand that affected his ability to feel his middle and pinky fingers, yet he continued to perform at a high level, posting a playoff career-high 26 points in a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. In the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, Hart delivered one of the most unusual and celebrated stat lines in Finals history: he scored only three points on 1-of-5 shooting in Game 1, but grabbed 15 rebounds, added six assists, collected four steals, and finished with a game-high plus-22. Although his scoring was inconsistent, Hart's impact was a major factor for the Knicks throughout the playoffs, as he averaged 10.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.7 steals in 19 postseason appearances.

Hart is an NBA champion, as the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs to capture the NBA title in five games. He played a major role in the clinching victory, recording 13 points and 11 rebounds while logging 39 minutes. Hart, along with teammates Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges, became part of the first trio of teammates to win both an NCAA title and an NBA championship. Throughout his journey, Hart has been candid about the sacrifices required to succeed in a team-first role.
