Josef Newgarden

Josef Newgarden is a two-time NTT IndyCar Series champion and back-to-back Indianapolis 500 winner, recognized as a leading driver in American open-wheel racing. Newgarden's career began with karting titles and progressed through junior formula racing in both the United States and Europe.

After excelling in karting and the Skip Barber Racing School Series, Newgarden became the first American driver to win a Formula Ford Festival title in England. He competed in the British Formula Ford Championship, leading the series in race wins, and later participated in the GP3 Series on the Formula One circuit. Returning to the United States, he won the Indy Lights championship with five wins and 10 podium finishes in 14 starts, which led to his entry into the IndyCar Series.

Since joining Team Penske, Newgarden has won at least one race in every season with the team, maintaining a streak of nine consecutive years. He secured his first IndyCar Series championship in his debut season with Penske and added a second title two years later. Newgarden has achieved victories at nearly every oval venue on the IndyCar schedule and is among the few drivers to win the Indianapolis 500 in consecutive years. He also contributed to an overall victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, becoming one of the select drivers to win both the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Off the track, Newgarden has appeared in national marketing campaigns and Super Bowl coverage as part of IndyCar's broadcast partnership with FOX. He co-authored the children's book "Josef's BIG Dream: An INDY 500 Story," which details his journey from childhood ambition to Indianapolis 500 champion. Newgarden is active in philanthropy, serving as an ambassador for the SeriousFun Children's Network and co-founding the Newgarden Family Foundation to support organizations that create opportunities for individuals. With 32 career wins, he is the winningest active American driver in the IndyCar Series, recognized for his achievements in motorsport and his engagement with the broader community.
