Jose Minaya

Jose Minaya is the global head of investments and wealth at BNY, where he leads a business managing more than $2.2 trillion in client assets and serves on the company’s executive committee. Before joining BNY, Minaya was president and CEO of Nuveen, the asset management arm of TIAA, overseeing global operating and investment activities across a range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, private markets, and alternatives. His career includes experience at financial institutions such as AIG, Merrill Lynch, and J.P. Morgan, and he began his tenure at TIAA as a fixed income portfolio manager.

Minaya has guided organizations through periods of crisis, including steering Nuveen through the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic by transitioning to remote operations and enhancing digital engagement, which resulted in high client satisfaction and strong investment performance. He is frequently invited to speak at industry events, such as the Milken Institute Global Conference, where he shares insights on wealth management and investment trends.

Minaya is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in finance, serving as chair of the governing board of directors of the Robert Toigo Foundation and as executive sponsor of TIAA’s inclusion and diversity initiative.
