Jorma Taccone

Jorma Taccone is a comedian, writer, director, actor, and musician known as one-third of the comedy trio The Lonely Island, alongside Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer. As a founding member of The Lonely Island, Taccone played a key role in bridging internet comedy and mainstream entertainment. The group formed in junior high school and, after reuniting following college, leveraged the early digital era by creating a personal website and distributing VHS tapes of their content to production companies, which led to industry opportunities. After launching his career with The Lonely Island website, Taccone and his collaborators were hired as writers on Saturday Night Live, where they contributed to the show's renewed cultural relevance.

At Saturday Night Live, Taccone helped redefine comedy sketches for the digital age. As The Lonely Island, the trio created more than 100 SNL Digital Shorts, including "Lazy Sunday," "I'm on a Boat" featuring T-Pain, and the Emmy Award-winning "Dick in a Box" featuring Justin Timberlake. Taccone produced much of the music for The Lonely Island, including tracks on the group's debut album, "Incredibad." The band's discography also includes the studio albums "Turtleneck & Chain," "The Wack Album," and "The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience." The Lonely Island has received recognition for its music career, earning a Grammy nomination, winning an Emmy Award, and performing at the Oscars.

As a director, Taccone co-wrote and directed the Saturday Night Live spinoff film "MacGruber," marking his directorial debut, and later directed the musical comedy "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping," which he also co-wrote and co-starred in with Schaffer and Samberg. Taccone has directed episodes of television shows such as "Parks & Recreation," "Miracle Workers," and the "Sonic the Hedgehog" spin-off series "Knuckles." As an actor, Taccone appeared in a recurring role as New York artist Booth Jonathan in the HBO series "Girls."

Taccone has expanded his creative range with projects such as "Over Your Dead Body," a remake of the Norwegian film "The Trip." The film won the Audience Award at South by Southwest, was filmed in Finland, and stars Jason Segel and Samara Weaving. During the making of the film, Taccone experienced a serious personal injury, falling from a 20-foot ladder and sustaining a shattered pelvis, which required hospitalization and rehabilitation.

In addition to his work in film and television, Taccone authored the children's book "Little Fox and the Wild Imagination," illustrated by Dan Santat. He also co-hosts "The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast" with Samberg, Schaffer, and Seth Meyers, revisiting The Lonely Island's SNL Digital Shorts. Taccone's career spans comedy, music, film, television, and podcasting, reflecting a broad influence on digital media and entertainment.
