Jorge Granier

Jorge Granier Phelps is a Venezuelan producer, director, and entrepreneur known for bridging Latin American storytelling with global audiences. Granier is an executive producer of the Golden Globe-nominated series "Jane the Virgin," which aired on The CW. In his role, Granier was responsible for adapting the comedy series for the United States from its original version, "Juana La Virgen," which aired on RCTV in Venezuela. "Jane the Virgin" received recognition with honors including an AFI TV Program of the Year Award, a People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy, a Peabody Award, and Imagen Foundation Awards for Best Primetime Television Program (Comedy), Best Actress (Television), and Best Supporting Actress (Television).

Granier's work extends to a range of productions across the entertainment industry. His credits include the Netflix Original "Nicky Jam: El Ganador," the feature documentary "Pablo Escobar, Angel o Demonio?," the YouTube digital series "Isla Presidencial," and the telenovela "Mi Gorda Bella." His documentary "Pablo Escobar, Angel or Demon?" became the top-grossing documentary in Colombia. Earlier in his career, Granier served as director of RCTV International, a television production, sales, and distribution company with a library of more than 100 internationally recognized telenovelas.

Granier founded Pongalo, a digital media venture focused on Latino audiences. As founder and CEO, he led the company in building a digital ecosystem that included the Pongalo OTT platform, Pongalo Networks' YouTube channels, and a catalog of 50,000 hours of film and TV content, making it one of the largest collections of Latino-focused digital rights globally. Pongalo was later acquired by ViX. Granier also co-founded El American, a bilingual digital news company serving U.S. Hispanics.

Granier partnered with former HBO chief Chris Albrecht to launch Rubicon Global Media, a company dedicated to producing Spanish-language content for international markets. Rubicon Global Media aggregates intellectual property from Latin America and Spain, developing content with multinational appeal and forming strategic partnerships with Secuoya Studios and Mexico-based BTF Media. Rubicon has developed several series, including a project with Curtis 50 Cent Jackson and Latin Grammy-winning artist Eladio Carrion.

Granier's contributions to the media and entertainment industry have been recognized by Variety in its Dealmakers Impact Report and its 10 Latinos to Watch list, as well as by Adweek's Young Influentials list. He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Producers Guild of America, a fellow of the Motion Picture Institute, and a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, where he has also served as a judge. Granier regularly speaks at industry events such as NATPE, MIPCOM, the Hispanic TV Summit, Digital LA, Digital Hollywood, and the World Telenovela Forum.
