Jordyn Wieber

Jordyn Wieber is recognized for her achievements in gymnastics, transitioning from a junior competitor to an Olympic gold medalist and later to a collegiate gymnastics coach. Wieber was a member of the "Fierce Five" United States squad that won team gold at the London Olympics. She earned two U.S. all-around championships and was the World all-around champion. Her elite gymnastics career includes three medals at the World Championships—team and all-around gold, and beam bronze—along with four U.S. senior national titles. Wieber also claimed the U.S. junior all-around, vault, and floor exercise championships, was a three-time American Cup all-around champion, and won multiple medals at the Pacific Rim Championships.

Wieber's journey to the Olympics was marked by resilience. After not qualifying for the individual all-around final at the London Games, she contributed a pivotal performance in the team final, helping the United States secure gold. Following her retirement from elite competition, Wieber attended UCLA to study psychology and served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bruins gymnastics team, focusing on floor exercise and contributing to the program's national ranking.

Wieber became the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks gymnastics program, becoming the first Olympic champion gymnast to lead a collegiate women's gymnastics program and the youngest NCAA gymnastics head coach at the time. During her tenure, she guided the Gymbacks to multiple NCAA Championships appearances, numerous All-America honors, and All-SEC nods. Under her leadership, Arkansas achieved top 10 national attendance rankings and set new attendance records after moving to Bud Walton Arena.

In addition to her coaching career, Wieber is known for her advocacy for athlete safety and safe sport. She testified in court regarding abuse by the former USA Gymnastics team doctor and has been recognized with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, the Los Angeles Business Journal Rising Star Award, and the Giant Steps A Hero Among Us Award. Wieber's public advocacy has established her as a credible figure in athlete safety and well-being.

Wieber is a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, and Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame. After concluding her tenure as head coach, she remains a prominent voice on resilience, leadership, and athlete well-being in the gymnastics community.
