Jordan E. Cooper Biography
Jordan E. Cooper is an Obie Award-winning playwright and performer who was chosen as one of OUT Magazine’s Entertainers of the Year in 2021. His satirical play "Ain’t No Mo’" was nominated for six Tony Awards and was a New York Times Critic’s Pick; in 2019, he won a special citation Obie Award for the show. Cooper was selected as a Whiting Award winner for Drama, also in 2021.
Cooper was also featured on the final season of FX’s groundbreaking series "Pose" as MC Tyrone. He created and executive produced his first television project, the Emmy nominated "The Ms. Pat Show," hailed by critics as "one of the most radical sitcoms of the modern era." Other works by Cooper include "Black Boy Fly," and "Mama Got a Cough," which The New York Times hailed as "The Best Theater of 2020."
A Forbes 30 Under 30 listee, Cooper is currently the youngest black showrunner in television history and the youngest Black American playwright nominated for a Tony Award.
