Jordan B. Gorfinkel

Jordan B. Gorfinkel, widely known as Gorf, is an American comic book creator, newspaper cartoonist, and animation and multimedia entertainment producer. Gorfinkel served as an editor at DC Comics for nearly a decade, managing the Batman franchise. During his tenure, he and his team expanded the Batman line from three publications per month to three per week, resulting in significant sales growth. His responsibilities included overseeing licensed products, theme parks, and multimedia productions such as movies, television, and online content.

Gorfinkel conceived and directed the series "No Man's Land," which was serialized across the Batman line. The feature film "Batman Begins" drew inspiration from his series "Batman: No Man's Land." He also created "Birds of Prey," a successful comic book series featuring women superheroes, and authored the TV bible for the "Birds of Prey" WB Network action/adventure series. Gorfinkel edited the crossover comic book "Batman/Aliens" for Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics.

After his work at DC, Gorfinkel founded Avalanche Comics Entertainment LLC (ACE), a company specializing in illustrated storytelling for entertainment content and corporate branding. ACE's clients include Alibaba, Clorox, Hasbro—where Gorfinkel contributed to the Transformers franchise bible and film-adjacent comic book materials—and Toms Shoes. ACE was commissioned by Paramount Pictures and Hasbro to produce the "Transformers: Mission To Cybertron" comic book as a Toys R Us premium packaged with the home video release of "Transformers: The Last Knight," for which ACE developed and wrote the script bridging the plots of the movie and its preceding film. As an independent author, Gorfinkel released the graphic novel "Michael Midas Champion," published by Penguin Random House.

Gorfinkel is also recognized as a cartoonist and author in the Jewish cultural space. He writes and illustrates "Everything's Relative," a weekly newspaper comic strip published internationally. The Munich Jewish Museum commissioned Gorfinkel to create a series of "Everything's Relative" four-panel comic strips for its permanent exhibition, making him the first cartoonist to be honored in a Jewish museum. He is the creator, writer, and producer of the Amazon Bestseller "Passover Haggadah Graphic Novel" with Koren Publications. Gorfinkel's work includes a graphic novel adaptation of the Purim story, "The Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel Esther."

Gorfinkel presents the Super Storytelling Seminar (S3), a workshop series designed to help professionals utilize storytelling for creative solutions. He also serves as a speaker and artist-in-residence for synagogues, Passover retreats, and fundraising events. Gorfinkel's experience in comics, graphic novels, and Jewish storytelling positions him as a knowledgeable voice in both mainstream pop culture and Jewish heritage.
