Jonny Huntington

Jonny Huntington, a stroke survivor, is the first person with a disability to complete a solo, unsupported ski expedition to the South Pole. He is also an elite endurance athlete, explorer, and motivational figure.

While serving as an officer in the British Army in 2014, Huntington suffered a stroke that caused complete paralysis from the neck down on his left side. Following extensive rehabilitation and discharge from the Armed Forces, he entered the world of elite sports as a disabled athlete, competing for Great Britain as a para cross-country skier.

Determined to push his physical and mental limits, Huntington embarked on his toughest expedition. Over 46 days, he covered 911 kilometers of Antarctic tundra, joining a select group of individuals who have successfully skied to the South Pole without support. Huntington skied for approximately 11 hours each day, dragging all his equipment and food in a sled weighing more than 100 kilograms. Throughout the expedition, he battled Antarctic temperatures as low as -40°C, high winds, crevasses, and relentless 24-hour daylight.

As a sports scientist with expertise in psychophysiology, cognition, and nutrition, Huntington strives to help others optimize their performance, build greater confidence in pursuing ambitious goals, and develop a sophisticated understanding of resilience. In the buildup to his expedition and since its completion, he has been delivering talks and workshops for corporations and schools. His corporate work includes delivering presentations for insurance, property, and tech businesses, both as standalone events and as part of workshops facilitating organizational change.
