Jonathan Rosenberg

Jonathan Rosenberg is a technology executive recognized for his tenure as senior vice president of products at Google. Rosenberg joined Google in 2002, overseeing the design and development of consumer, advertiser, and partner products, including Search, Ads, Gmail, Android, Apps, and Chrome. In this role, he contributed to the evolution of Google's product portfolio, helped develop hiring processes, and influenced the company's communications and marketing practices. Rosenberg resigned from his position as senior vice president in 2011.

Before joining Google, Rosenberg held leadership roles across the technology sector. He managed products and services at Excite@Home, oversaw the eWorld product line for Apple Computer, and directed product marketing for Knight Ridder Information Services. He also served as vice president of software for palmOne, a provider of handheld computing and communications solutions. Rosenberg holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts with honors in economics from Claremont McKenna College.

Rosenberg is the co-author, with Eric Schmidt, of the New York Times best-selling book "How Google Works" and the Wall Street Journal and New York Times bestseller "Trillion Dollar Coach." "How Google Works" explores how technology has shifted the balance of power from companies to consumers and discusses strategies for building innovative products and attracting multifaceted employees. "Trillion Dollar Coach," co-authored with Schmidt and Alan Eagle, shares business and management lessons from Bill Campbell and provides insights into Silicon Valley's business environment.

For more than a decade, Rosenberg met regularly with Campbell, joining a group of Silicon Valley leaders who benefited from Campbell's guidance. As senior vice president of products, Rosenberg advocated for open systems, products, and services, emphasizing the value of openness in technology. This perspective was articulated in the Google Blog post "The Meaning of Open," authored by Rosenberg during his work with teams developing Chrome and Android.

Rosenberg was also appointed chief operating officer of Motorola Mobility and serves as an advisor to Alphabet management. He is recognized for his expertise in leadership, innovation, and corporate culture, offering insight into the operations of global technology companies.
