John Ternus

John Ternus is an engineer and business executive known for his extensive tenure at Apple, where he has played a significant role in the technology industry. Ternus earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where his senior project involved developing a mechanical feeding arm operable by individuals with quadriplegia using head movements, reflecting his focus on engineering solutions that address human needs. He began his career as a mechanical engineer designing virtual reality headsets at Virtual Research Systems before joining Apple as a member of the product design team, initially working on the Apple Cinema Display.

Ternus was appointed vice president of hardware engineering, overseeing the development of AirPods, Mac, and iPad product lines. He later assumed responsibility for iPhone hardware and was promoted to senior vice president of hardware engineering, expanding his oversight to include Apple Watch hardware.
