John Shuster Biography
John Shuster is an American curler from Duluth, Minnesota. He led team USA to gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics, the first American team to ever win gold in curling. He also won a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
Shuster made his World Championship debut back in 2003, playing for Pete Fenson’s team and returning in the 2005 Championships. The team went on to be selected at the US Olympic Curling Trials, playing at the 2006 Winter Olympics and winning a bronze medal. Shuster later formed his own team, going on to win bronze medals at the US Men’s Curling Championships in 2012 and 2013 and qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics. His incredible performances continued, leading the USA team to their first ever gold medal in curling in 2018 Winter Olympics. He and his team took home gold medals at both the 2019 and 2020 US Men’s Curling Championship, and most recently he has also started competing in the mixed doubles event, winning gold in 2019 and silver in 2020.
This star of Team USA is widely regarded as one of the best curlers to ever come out of the country. Shuster’s career shows no signs of slowing down, and he now has his sights set on the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
