John E. James Biography
John Edward James is a businessman, combat veteran, and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 10th Congressional District since January 3, 2023.
James graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He served eight years in the U.S. Army as an AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot, participating in multiple tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom and achieving the rank of captain.
Following his military service, James earned a Master of Supply Chain Management from Penn State University's Smeal College of Business and an MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. He then joined his family's business, James Group International, a global supply chain management firm based in Detroit, where he served as President and CEO of its subsidiary, Renaissance Global Logistics.
In 2022, James was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Michigan's 10th Congressional District, which includes areas north of Detroit. He was re-elected in 2024, defeating Democrat Carl Marlinga in a rematch.
As of the 118th Congress, James serves on several committees, including the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
