John Biehler

John Biehler is a Vancouver-based technologist, 3D printing advocate, consultant, and author with a significant presence in the additive manufacturing industry. Biehler discovered 3D printing and built his first 3D printer early in his career, focusing on making the technology accessible to a broad audience. He has written about technology online for decades, sharing insights on emerging tools and trends in digital fabrication and rapid prototyping.

Biehler has shared his expertise in 3D printing with thousands of individuals at events, workshops, conferences, and through media appearances on television, radio, and online platforms. He cofounded 3D604.org, a Vancouver-area group of 3D printer builders and enthusiasts, which developed into a community for makers and inventors. Biehler has spoken at conferences such as SXSW Interactive, BIL, Northern Voice, Xplore, and BarCamp, providing thought leadership on the future of fabrication technology.

His book, "3D Printing with Autodesk," published by Pearson, serves as a resource for home hobbyists, makers, tinkerers, and experienced 3D CAD users interested in additive manufacturing. The book is recognized for its practical approach to introducing readers to 3D printing technology.

Biehler has been recognized as a Top 100 Innovator in 3D Printing and a Top 20 Influencer in 3D Printing, and was listed among the 10 movers and shakers to watch in the field. He collaborated with artist and author Douglas Coupland on the 3DCanada project, a national 3D scanning and printing art initiative. Outside of 3D printing, Biehler contributed as an on-air guest for Wired Wednesdays on News 1130 radio in Vancouver and served as producer and media coordinator for Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, supporting technology and maker communities. Biehler’s media presence and hands-on experience position him as a knowledgeable source on technology, creativity, and digital manufacturing.
