Joel Holsinger

Joel Holsinger is a finance executive serving as partner, portfolio manager, and co-head of alternative credit at Ares Management. In this role, Holsinger is a member of the Ares Credit Group's Alternative Credit Executive Committee and several investment committees, overseeing strategy and portfolio management for the firm's alternative credit platform. Holsinger also serves on the Ares Operating Committee and as co-chair of the Ares Charitable Foundation, directing philanthropic initiatives focused on global health and education.

Holsinger has extensive experience in alternative credit and private investment. Prior to joining Ares Management, he was a partner at Fortress Investment Group, where he co-headed illiquid credit and served on both the management and investment committees, overseeing direct lending, structured finance, and opportunistic investments across multiple asset classes and regions. Holsinger was a founding partner at Atalaya Capital Management, where he co-led the investment committee, and has held senior positions at Navigant Consulting, American Commercial Capital, and Citigroup. He is a frequent speaker on finance podcasts and panels, sharing insights on market trends and investment strategies.

Holsinger is involved in social impact and education initiatives. Under his leadership, Ares and its Pathfinder funds have supported charitable giving by allocating a portion of performance fees to global health and education causes. Holsinger serves on the board of PATH Global Health and is active with several other nonprofits, including Khan Academy and UNICEF. He has contributed to academia as an adjunct faculty member at Emory University Goizueta Business School, supporting thought leadership and public engagement in the financial sector.
