Joachim Trier

Joachim Trier is a Danish-Norwegian filmmaker celebrated for his Oslo trilogy: "Reprise," "Oslo, 31 August," and "The Worst Person in the World". His filmography extends beyond the trilogy, boasting titles such as "Louder Than Bombs," "Thelma," and "Sentimental Value". To add to his directing prowess, Trier has also ventured into documentary filmmaking with "The Other Munch," co-directed with Karl Ove Knausgård. A significant milestone in his career was being named one of Variety's "10 Directors to Watch" in 2007.

A key figure in international film festivals, Trier's works have been consistently recognized. His films have been selected for the Official Selection at the Festival de Cannes in 2011, 2015, 2021, and 2025. His directorial work in "Louder Than Bombs" led it to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. His film "Thelma" was chosen as the Norwegian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. This film also won him the San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics Circle Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2025. In 2018, he was invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, further solidifying his standing in the film industry.
