Jim McGreevey

Jim McGreevey, the 52nd governor of New Jersey from 2002 to 2004, holds a well-documented history in politics, education, and public service. Notably, McGreevey became the first openly gay state governor in United States history, an aspect of his life detailed in his 2006 memoir, "The Confession". His political career was marked by significant reforms such as auto insurance reform, the signing of the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act, and the implementation of New Jersey's first domestic partnership law for same-sex couples in early 2004. Beyond politics, McGreevey applied his leadership skills to education; he is a faculty member at Kean University and has taught ethics, as noted in a 2007 CBS News report.

In 2013, McGreevey was appointed head of Jersey City's Employment & Training Program (JCETP), a role he held until 2019. He also participated in the creation of the documentary "Fall to Grace," directed by Alexandra Pelosi, which highlighted his life after politics, his pursuit of the priesthood, and his ministry to prison inmates. The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. As part of his work with JCETP and later as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC), he became involved in prisoner re-entry programs, launching a center in Jersey City in 2014 that offered resources such as job opportunities and substance abuse rehabilitation to those released from prison.
