Jesse Roper

Jesse Roper is a Canadian blues and Americana musician recognized for his guitar work and dynamic stage presence. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, Roper writes and performs modern, indie-infused blues music, drawing from blues, Americana, and R&B influences. His sound is inspired by artists such as J.J. Cale, Leon Bridges, and Alabama Shakes, while maintaining a distinct style within the genre.

Roper began playing guitar at age six, encouraged by his father. Despite his early interest, he did not perform publicly until his late twenties due to stage fright. Before pursuing music professionally, Roper worked in various roles, including as a painter. Once he committed to a music career, he became known for energetic live performances and a strong connection with audiences.

Roper's discography includes the album "Red Bird," which was nominated for a West Coast Music Award for Best Blues Recording. He also released the radio single "Cupid," recorded at Bear Creek Studios with producer Ryan Hadlock. His subsequent albums include "Access to Infinity" and "Horizons," the latter developed with JUNO-nominated producer Gus van Go. Additional releases include "Way Down In The Valley" and the EP "Daisy Wake Up."

Roper has performed at festivals such as Rock the Shores, Rifflandia, Sunfest, and Burnaby Roots and Blues, and has appeared at industry showcases including Folk Alliance International, CMW, and Break Out West. He has toured across North America and Europe, sharing stages with artists such as Keith Urban, Lee Brice, Colin James, Tower of Power, Spirit of the West, Beth Hart, Booker T. Jones, and Burton Cummings.

Roper's songwriting often reflects his personal experiences, addressing life's challenges and eccentricities. His journey from a private guitarist to a prominent figure in the Canadian blues and Americana scene highlights his evolution as a musician and performer.
