A lawyer and nonprofit leader, Jennifer Weiss-Wolf worked for more than a decade at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, where she currently serves as its inaugural women and democracy fellow. In 2022, Weiss-Wolf joined Ms. – the feminist movement-making magazine launched by Gloria Steinem and others in 1972 – as its executive director. A passionate advocate for issues of gender and politics, Weiss-Wolf is cited frequently in the media; Newsweek dubbed her the “architect of the U.S. campaign to squash the tampon tax.”
Weiss-Wolf's public writing has included regular opinion posts at Newsweek and Ms.; targeted features with Cosmopolitan and Refinery29; and op-eds and essays in women’s magazines (Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Teen Vogue), high-traffic sites (Bustle, Pop Sugar, Refinery29, Slate), and national and regional news (New York Times, Washington Post, TIME, Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times, New York Daily News, Miami Herald).
In 2017, Weiss-Wolf's first nonfiction book, "Periods Gone Public: Taking A Stand for Menstrual Equity" was published by Arcade (released in paperback with a new preface in 2019). She contributed a chapter to the YA anthology, "Period: Twelve Voices Tell the Bloody Truth" (Macmillan, 2018). Her forthcoming book, "Period. Full Stop." (NYU Press, 2024) is about the politics of menopause.
Weiss-Wolf is a seasoned public speaker and has presented to diverse audiences worldwide – at renowned bookstores, on college campuses, at U.S. and international conferences and festivals, even on Broadway stages. She has done appearances on TV, radio, and podcasts – including national and regional NPR and PBS programming and on ABC, CBS, and NBC News. Topics on which Weiss-Wolf speaks on include menstruation and menopause; political advocacy and organizing; intergenerational feminism; nonprofit leadership; and policy and law.
