
Jen Waldman is a Broadway acting coach and the founder of Jen Waldman Studio, a New York City training center and creative home for Broadway actors. Waldman's clients have appeared in numerous Broadway musicals, and the studio is recognized for its holistic and strategic approach to developing an artist's craft and career. She has worked with more than 1,000 artists, including Tony Award winners and nominees, to develop their creative voice and technique. The studio also offers a scholarship program for artists committed to using their art for social impact.
Before establishing her coaching career, Waldman performed on Broadway, making her debut in the musical "Titanic" and later appearing in "Wicked" as Nessarose, the Wicked Witch of the East. Her work as a director and choreographer has been seen in New York City and theaters nationwide. In addition to her work at Jen Waldman Studio, Waldman has served as the artistic director of Hangar Theatre and co-artistic director of Breaking Bread Theatre.
Waldman's expertise in creativity, leadership, and communication extends beyond theater. She has collaborated with Simon Sinek on the Speak Like a Leader workshop, contributed to Seth Godin's Real Skills Conference, and partnered with organizations from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Waldman and Sinek joined forces after he learned she was using the Golden Circle framework to inspire artists, leading to joint efforts to help individuals across industries discover and activate their purpose. She delivers keynotes and workshops internationally on creativity, effective communication, and leadership development.
Waldman received a proclamation from the City of New York for her work supporting marriage equality. She served a five-year term as the theater chair of the National YoungArts Foundation and is a professor at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Waldman co-hosts "The Long and the Short of It" with leadership development expert Peter Shepherd, a podcast focused on creativity, courage, and meaningful work, with listeners in more than 100 countries. Through her career as a performer, director, educator, and speaker, Waldman is recognized for her contributions to creativity, leadership, and authentic storytelling in the performing arts and beyond.
