Jen Shepherd

Jen Shepherd is Global Head of Uber Health, where she leads Uber’s healthcare business and its efforts to use the company’s transportation and delivery infrastructure to make healthcare more accessible. She stepped into the role in late 2025 after more than seven years at Uber, having held leadership positions across Transit, Delivery and Micromobility.

Before taking the helm of Uber Health, Shepherd led Uber’s Global Transit business, working with cities and transit agencies to improve access to public transportation, increase ridership and create more flexible transportation options. Earlier at Uber, she led Southeast U.S. operations for the company’s micromobility and delivery businesses.

Prior to joining Uber, Shepherd held leadership roles spanning operations, strategy and finance in the freight, consumer-products and homebuilding industries. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

At Uber Health, Shepherd is focused on addressing one of healthcare’s less glamorous but consequential problems: getting people to care. The business now serves more than 4,000 healthcare organizations and has expanded beyond transportation into prescription and grocery delivery. In 2026, Uber Health introduced rider self-booking, allowing healthcare and disability-service organizations to fund rides while giving patients and riders the ability to schedule their own trips through the Uber app.

Shepherd has emphasized that healthcare innovation needs to address practical barriers to care, not simply generate more data. Speaking at Fortune Brainstorm Tech in 2026, she highlighted transportation as a significant contributor to missed or delayed medical appointments and argued that innovation is most valuable when it translates into tangible improvements in access and execution.
