Jeffrey Eugenides is an American novelist and short-story writer known for exploring themes of identity, gender, and the immigrant experience in contemporary literature. Eugenides graduated magna cum laude from Brown University and earned a master's degree in English and creative writing from Stanford University. His early work gained attention when The Paris Review published his short story "The Virgin Suicides," which won the literary journal's Aga Khan Prize.
Eugenides published his debut novel, "The Virgin Suicides," which has been translated into 34 languages and adapted into a feature film directed by Sofia Coppola. Eugenides' second novel, "Middlesex," spans eight decades and follows the coming-of-age story of Calliope Stephanides, an intersex Greek American navigating gender identity and family history. The novel received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and has sold more than 4 million copies. "Middlesex" also won the WELT-Literaturpreis of Germany and the Great Lakes Book Award, and was shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award, France's Prix Médicis, and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. The novel was selected for Oprah Winfrey's book club, broadening its readership.
His third novel, "The Marriage Plot," was a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist and was named a Best Book of the Year by The New York Times Book Review, NPR, The New Republic, Publisher's Weekly, and other publications. The story collection "Fresh Complaint" was recognized as a New York Times Notable Book and was named a Best Book of the Year by Kirkus, The Guardian, and NPR. Eugenides' fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Yale Review, Best American Short Stories, The Gettysburg Review, and Granta's Best of Young American Novelists.

Vursell Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
