Jeffery Liu

Jeffery Liu is the co-founder and co-CEO of Assort Health, a San Francisco-based healthcare technology company focused on improving patient-provider communication. Liu began his academic career at Duke University as a biomedical engineering pre-med student before transitioning to computer science, where he concentrated on software and product engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Economics from Duke.

Liu’s professional experience includes roles in product engineering at Athelas, senior software engineering at Facebook across Oculus and Marketplace, and research in cybersecurity and materials science. His longstanding interest in healthcare, shaped by early hospital volunteer work and pre-med studies, led him to serve as head of product engineering at Athelas, where he developed AI-driven software for patient care and physician workflows.

Liu co-founded Assort Health with Jon Wang, combining expertise in artificial intelligence and medicine to develop voice AI agents for healthcare. Assort Health has introduced a specialty-specific AI platform for managing patient phone calls and has raised $26 million in institutional financing co-led by First Round Capital and Chemistry. The company later closed a $76 million Series B financing round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with additional investments from Felicis, First Round Capital, Chemistry, A*, Liquid2, and Quiet Capital. Following a Series A round, Assort Health raised $102 million in total to expand its team and advance the development of its platform, Assort OS, which has managed tens of millions of patient interactions across thousands of providers.

Assort Health automates healthcare call centers with specialty-specific voice AI agents for fields such as orthopedics, cardiology, and immunology. These agents triage incoming patient calls, answer frequently asked questions, and route patients to appropriate clinic staff. With thousands of specialty-specific tests and continuous automated system testing, Assort Health maintains a resolution rate above 90%, supporting reliable patient service and reducing errors such as misdirected referrals.

Assort Health has been recognized by Forbes as a Cloud 100 Rising Stars company and included on Forbes' Next Billion-Dollar Startups list.
