Jeanne Shen

Jeanne Shen is the chief investment officer at Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, where she oversees the strategic and operational planning of the organization’s $2 billion investment portfolio. Based in Washington, D.C., Shen has contributed to transforming Gavi’s investment strategy, diversifying its holdings from short-duration fixed income to a portfolio with significant allocations to alternative assets. Shen has developed governance policies, built a high-performing team, and guided the evolution of Gavi’s Sustainable Investment Policy, aligning the organization’s financial strategies with its mission to improve global health through equitable vaccine access.

Shen’s expertise includes portfolio management and risk mitigation initiatives for the COVAX facility, a global partnership to secure COVID-19 vaccines. She also maintains oversight of retirement plans for Gavi’s Geneva and Washington, D.C., offices. Shen has implemented ESG integration and created investment strategies addressing the impact of greenhouse gas emissions on vulnerable populations. She serves as a trustee of Noblis, contributing to committees focused on investment, risk, and human resources.

Shen is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Kennedy School. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and a certification from the National Association of Corporate Directors.
