Jay Wheeler

Jay Wheeler, born José Ángel López Martínez, is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter known for his contributions to contemporary Latin music. Performing under the stage name Jay Wheeler, he initially focused on music production after experiencing stage fright and teasing during his youth. Encouraged by a friend following a breakup, Wheeler posted his first song online, "Ahora Estoy Mejor," which quickly gained significant attention and marked his entry into the Latin music scene.

Wheeler's online presence led to a growing fan base and recognition within the Latin urban music community. After releasing several singles, he signed his first record deal with Dynamic Records. His debut studio album, "Platónico," was executively produced by DJ Nelson, a prominent reggaeton producer. Wheeler's follow-up album, "Platónicos," featured the single "La Curiosidad" with Myke Towers, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and accumulated over a billion streams.

Continuing his momentum, Wheeler released "El Amor y Yo," which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart, and the EP "De Mi Para Ti," which debuted at No. 3. His discography includes albums such as "Emociones," "TRAPPii," and "Música Buena Para Días Malos." With eight studio albums and more than 15 billion streams, Wheeler has received multiple Latin Grammy nominations and is recognized for his impact on the global Latin music industry.

Wheeler's achievements include winning the La Nueva Generación - Masculina award at Premios Juventud, the Best Artist Región Norte award at the Heat Latin Music Awards, and Pop Artist of the Year at Premios Tu Música Urbano. He has also received multiple nominations at the Tu Música Urbano Awards, highlighting his influence in Latin pop, reggaeton, and urban music.

In addition to his music career, Wheeler advocates for autistic children and serves as an ambassador for Easter Seals. He emphasizes his Puerto Rican heritage and Hispanic identity in his work, blending reggaeton, hip-hop, and trap to create romantic, danceable tracks that resonate with a global audience.
