Jay Feely

Jay Feely is a former professional football placekicker whose career in the National Football League (NFL) spanned 14 seasons and seven franchises. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Feely won the National Championship with the Michigan Wolverines and earned an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten team. After going undrafted in the NFL Draft, Feely played for the Florida Bobcats of the Arena Football League before earning his first NFL opportunity with the Atlanta Falcons.

Feely's NFL career was marked by consistency and performance under pressure. In his second season, Feely converted a league-leading 32 field goals, breaking Hall of Fame kicker Morten Andersen's franchise record for field goals made in a single season. Following a record-setting season with the New York Giants, Feely was selected to the Pro Bowl. Over a 10-season stretch, Feely did not miss an extra point, missing just three of his 452 career point-after attempts. He also became one of the few kickers to score a rushing touchdown on a fake field goal. Feely finished his NFL career with an 82.6 percent field goal conversion rate and a career-long field goal of 61 yards.

Off the field, Feely has been recognized for his leadership and community involvement. He was named the Atlanta Falcons Man of the Year, New York Giants United Way Man of the Year, Miami Dolphins Man of the Year, and Arizona Cardinals Man of the Year. Feely has served as vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and received the Muscular Dystrophy Association award for his contributions. He also launched the Food Fighters campaign, raising funds to support local restaurants and deliver meals to frontline workers, including hospital staff and first responders.

After retiring from professional football, Feely transitioned to a career in sports broadcasting. He joined CBS Sports Network as a color analyst covering college football and helped pioneer the role of kicking analyst. Feely has served as a color commentator, sideline reporter, and kicking analyst for CBS' NFL telecasts, including working alongside Jim Nantz and Tony Romo during the Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. Feely has spoken about the mental toughness required in football, emphasizing the importance of resilience and learning from setbacks.

Feely has also announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Arizona, describing himself as a fiscal conservative, social conservative, and pro-business. He has demonstrated adaptability and commitment across his careers in professional football, sports broadcasting, and public service.
