Jason Garrett

Jason Garrett is a former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and a veteran of the National Football League (NFL). Garrett was named the eighth head coach in Cowboys history, becoming the first former Dallas player to lead the team. He played for or worked alongside five of his predecessors during his career. In August 2022, it was announced that he would be the game analyst for Notre Dame football alongside Jac Collinsworth.

Garrett began his football journey at Princeton University, where he was recognized as the Ivy League Player of the Year and earned honorable mention All American honors. After graduating with a degree in history, he entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the New Orleans Saints developmental squad. Following his release, Garrett spent a season as an assistant coach at Princeton before playing in the World League and Canadian Football League.

Garrett joined the Cowboys practice squad and was a member of three Super Bowl-winning teams during his seven seasons as a quarterback in Dallas. He later played for the New York Giants, who reached Super Bowl XXXV under offensive coordinator Sean Payton, and concluded his playing career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under Jon Gruden. Garrett began his coaching career with the Miami Dolphins, working under head coach Nick Saban.

Garrett was elevated to head coach of the Cowboys after serving as interim head coach. Previously, he was the Cowboys' offensive coordinator under head coach Wade Phillips and was also assigned the role of assistant head coach. Under Garrett's leadership, the Dallas offense ranked among the NFL's top 10 in total offense in multiple seasons.

Garrett and his wife Brill founded their charitable foundation, Jason Garrett Starfish Charities, which supports youth development through a football camp and leadership forum for high school athletes at Princeton University.
