Jason Belmonte

Jason Belmonte is an Australian professional ten-pin bowler recognized for pioneering the two-handed approach style in competitive bowling. Belmonte's technique, which generates a high rev rate and sharp hook, initially drew criticism from traditionalists but has since become widely adopted due to its effectiveness. He turned professional and joined the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), where his first title earned him exempt status and the PBA Rookie of the Year award.

Belmonte has won 32 PBA titles, ranking seventh all-time, and holds a record 15 major championships. He is one of only eight bowlers in PBA Tour history to achieve 30 wins and one of two to complete the Super Slam by winning all five PBA major titles. Belmonte leads in both USBC Masters and PBA Tournament of Champions titles, with four victories in each event. He has been named PBA Player of the Year seven times, tying the record set by Walter Ray Williams Jr., and is among five bowlers to win the award in three consecutive seasons. In the PBA's ranking of top performers across the 2000–2025 seasons, Belmonte's 450.5 points and 15 major victories set him apart from his peers.

Belmonte became the first PBA player to win three major titles in a single season and set a PBA-record 229.39 average for 380 games in that year. He has achieved at least 27 career 300 games in PBA Tour events and is the only player with three televised perfect games. Bowlers Journal named him the male Player of the Decade for the 2010–2019 period. He reached $1 million in career PBA earnings faster than any other player and has surpassed $2 million in earnings. In his early international career, Belmonte earned multiple medals at the Asian Youth FIQ in Hong Kong and World Youth FIQ titles in Guam.

Belmonte has received seven Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year awards and four ESPY Awards, reflecting his influence in professional bowling and sports media. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to tenpin bowling at the elite level. His collaboration with Storm led to the development of the Signature line of bowling balls, featuring the "Belmo" nickname and logo. Belmonte's innovative technique has inspired a new generation of bowlers to explore styles beyond the conventional one-handed approach, contributing to the growth of bowling among youth and aspiring players worldwide.
