Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner is an Italian professional tennis player recognized for his achievements in the ATP Tour and Grand Slam tournaments. Sinner became the first Italian to reach world No. 1 in men's singles and entered the top 10 all-time list for most consecutive weeks at No. 1, surpassing players such as Andy Murray and Björn Borg.

At age 13, Sinner dedicated himself to tennis, relocating to Bordighera to train under coach Riccardo Piatti. He began competing in professional tournaments at 16, reached the top 100 in the world rankings, and won the Next Generation ATP Finals and the ATP Newcomer of the Year award. Sinner claimed his first ATP title at the Sofia Open, becoming the youngest player to win an ATP title in 12 years and the youngest Italian champion on tour in the Open Era. Rather than working with a sports psychologist, Sinner participates in Formula Medicine, a mental training program originally developed for Formula One drivers, which focuses on reducing emotional activity and stress response.

Sinner's Grand Slam breakthrough came at the Australian Open, where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and overcame Daniil Medvedev in the final to secure his first Grand Slam title. He later won the US Open, joining Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Mats Wilander as the only players to win both hard-court Grand Slam titles in the same season. Sinner posted a 73–6 record during that season, including eight titles, and achieved the fifth-highest season win percentage since 2000. He became the first Italian to win the Nitto ATP Finals title, accomplishing this feat without dropping a set, and led Italy to two Davis Cup titles.

Sinner reached the finals of all four majors in a single season, winning his fourth major title at Wimbledon and becoming the youngest man in the Open Era to reach the finals of all four Grand Slam events in one season. He returned to competition and went on to claim additional titles, including Wimbledon and another ATP Finals crown. Sinner also won five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles and became the youngest player to complete the career Golden Masters, winning all nine Masters 1000 titles since the series began. In 2026, he won his second consecutive Wimbledon title, defeating Alexander Zverev in the final. This victory not only marks his fifth Grand Slam title but also his 100th match win in a major tournament.

Off the court, Sinner has been recognized by Forbes on the 30 Under 30 Europe list and by Time on the Time 100 Next list. He appeared in an Andrea Bocelli single in a spoken word role. Sinner established the Jannik Sinner Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on empowering children through education and sports. Known for his powerful forehand, precise two-handed backhand, and ability to dictate tempo from the baseline, Sinner has played a central role in the evolving landscape of men's tennis, particularly through his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz.
