Janine Zacharia

Janine Zacharia, an American journalist, brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to her work. Her career began with Reuters in Israel, followed by a five-year tenure as the Washington bureau chief for "The Jerusalem Post". Her journalistic journey led her to serve as a diplomatic reporter for Bloomberg News, and subsequently, she was appointed Middle East correspondent for "The Washington Post", a position she held until April 2011. Zacharia's expertise extends beyond reporting, as she is a regular contributor to "The New Republic" and frequently appears on MSNBC, CNN, and PBS's "Washington Week".

Following her tenure at "The Washington Post", Zacharia transitioned into academia, starting as a Carlos Kelly McClatchy Visiting Lecturer in the Communication Department at Stanford University. She also received a Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University for the 2008–2009 academic year. In addition to her academic roles, Zacharia has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations since 2013. Her involvement in public discourse is also evident in her support of Emily Wilder, a former student, whom she defended when Wilder was fired by the Associated Press in 2021.
