Jane McGarry

Jane McGarry is a television news anchor, reporter, and media personality with extensive experience in Dallas–Fort Worth broadcasting. McGarry served as co-host of WFAA-TV's "Good Morning Texas" and reported and anchored the "Texas Legends" series for the daily lifestyle and information program. With more than 30 years in the DFW broadcast market, McGarry began her career at WRAJ-AM & FM radio in Anna, Illinois, then moved into television as Illinois Bureau Chief for WPSD-TV in Paducah, Kentucky, before anchoring the nightly evening news at KFVS-TV in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Prior to joining WFAA, she spent three decades at NBC 5 KXAS as an evening news anchor.

Throughout her career in Dallas–Fort Worth television, McGarry has conducted interviews with public figures including President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, quarterback Roger Staubach, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, musician Willie Nelson, and television host Ellen DeGeneres. At KXAS, she anchored programs such as "NonStop Nightly," a 30-minute news recap, and "One on One with Jane McGarry," a one-hour prime-time interview show. Her work has been recognized with the National Gracie Award for "Best Local News Anchor in the Country," the Edward R. Murrow Award for broadcast journalism, and the Lone Star Emmy Award for "Best Newscast in Texas." Local media have named her "most popular news anchor in the Metroplex" multiple times.

McGarry has spoken publicly about her professional setbacks and personal growth, which inform her work as a motivational speaker. She delivers the "Love Your Life: 3 Easy Steps" keynote, focusing on empowering women to value their authentic selves and find purpose in their careers, relationships, and health and wellness, with particular attention to women over 50.

In addition to her broadcast journalism career, McGarry is the founder and president of Jane McGarry Media, a media training and on-camera coaching company. She is recognized for her expertise in helping business leaders communicate their brand messages effectively on video. McGarry serves on the board of the AiRS Foundation, which provides access to reconstructive breast surgery for women globally, and on the Communications Committee of Dallas Museum of Art. She is also involved with the Black Academy of Arts & Letters, supporting youth interested in arts careers. McGarry continues to contribute to the fields of journalism, media training, and community service.
