Jane Hyun

Jane Hyun is an executive coach and global leadership strategist whose work has influenced how organizations address cultural differences in the workplace. Often referred to as an interpreter, Hyun serves as a coach to multinational companies, Fortune 500 organizations, schools, and nonprofit groups. She is the founder and president of Hyun & Associates, a firm known for leadership programs such as "Bamboo Ceiling" and "The Art of Cultural Fluency." These programs have been recognized by Fortune 100 companies seeking to leverage cultural capital within their talent pools. Hyun is a recipient of the Marshall Goldsmith Global Coaches Award for Coach for Cultural Fluency.

Hyun is the author of three books on leadership and cultural identity. Her book "Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling" initiated a dialogue about the need for culturally grounded talent development in organizations. She is also the co-author of "Flex: The New Playbook for Managing Across Differences," which provides guidance to senior management teams and diversity councils on building effective multicultural teams and developing a global talent pipeline. Her book "Leadership Toolkit for Asians – The Definitive Resource Guide For Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling" addresses the challenges Asian Americans face in career advancement, noting that while they make up 13 percent of the professional workforce, they hold less than 3 percent of executive positions.

Hyun's expertise is built on more than 25 years of experience in high-stakes business environments. She has worked with sales teams, guided leadership through mergers and divestitures, and designed solutions for onboarding and developing talent. Before founding Hyun & Associates, she held management roles at JPMorgan and served as director of recruiting at Deloitte and Resources Global. She was also research director for The Conference Board's Cultural Fluency: Leadership Styles in Asia study. Hyun has worked with leaders across five continents to increase agility and drive business growth and innovation.

Hyun is the creator of the Culturally Fluent Leader Academy, a virtual and in-person learning experience. She has delivered keynote addresses in cities including Munich, Bangkok, Seoul, Shanghai, and London, and her Bamboo Ceiling Breakthrough Leadership workshops have supported hundreds of professionals in developing their leadership skills. A graduate of Cornell University with a degree in economics and international studies, Hyun has served as an advisor to Coqual/Center for Talent Innovation and the diversity council for the American Heart Association.
