Jane Adams

Jane Adams is an actress and screenwriter known for her work in theater, independent film, and television. A graduate of the Juilliard School Drama Division, Adams made her Broadway debut in the original production of Paul Rudnick's "I Hate Hamlet," earning the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Debut Performance. She later received the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play and a Drama Desk Award for her role in the Broadway revival of J.B. Priestley's "An Inspector Calls."

Adams has appeared in numerous independent films, recognized for her portrayals of complex characters. Her film credits include Todd Solondz's "Happiness," where she played Joy, contributing to the ensemble's National Board of Review Award. Additional credits include "Mumford," "Songcatcher"—which received a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival—"The Anniversary Party," Michel Gondry's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," and Todd Field's "Little Children." Adams has collaborated with directors such as Robert Altman, Neil Jordan, and Nora Ephron, demonstrating versatility across genres in the film industry.

On television, Adams is known for her recurring role as Dr. Mel Karnofsky on the NBC sitcom "Frasier" and received a Golden Globe Award nomination for her role as Tanya Skagle on HBO's "Hung." Her work as Nina Daniels on the HBO series "Hacks" earned her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. She also co-starred as Nikki Katz on HBO's "The Idol" and appeared in David Lynch's "Twin Peaks: The Return."

In addition to acting, Adams has contributed to screenwriting, co-writing and starring in the improvisational drama "All the Light in the Sky" with director Joe Swanberg, a project that earned her the Best Actress award at the Nashville Film Festival.
