Jacob Tierney

Jacob Tierney is a Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, and producer whose career spans decades and multiple creative disciplines in the film and television industry. Tierney began his career as a child actor, landing small roles in TV movies and series before being cast in a leading role in "Dracula: The Series." He also appeared in the feature film "Josh and S.A.M." and was a regular on "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" before transitioning to work as a writer and director.

Tierney has written and directed feature films including "Twist," for which he was nominated for a Genie Award for Best Adapted Screenplay; "The Trotsky," which earned him two Canadian Comedy Awards and a Genie Award; "Good Neighbours"; and "Preggoland." He is recognized for the comedy "The Trotsky," starring Jay Baruchel and Emily Hampshire. Tierney has also directed for the stage, making his directorial debut with Centaur Theatre's production of Tom Stoppard's "Travesties."

Tierney is the co-writer, director, and executive producer of the sitcom "Letterkenny," in which he also stars as Pastor Glen. The series became an international cult hit, known for its deadpan humor and distinctive rural vernacular. Tierney has won six Canadian Screen Awards as showrunner on the series—three for writing and three for directing.

"Heated Rivalry" is a Canadian sports romance television series created, written, and directed by Tierney for Crave. Based on the Game Changers book series by Rachel Reid, the show takes its title from the second installment. "Heated Rivalry" received critical acclaim for Tierney's direction, writing, and the performances and chemistry between lead actors. It became the most-watched original series on Crave and was reported as the highest-performing acquired, non-animated debut on HBO Max. At the Canadian Screen Awards, the series swept all of its categories, including Best Drama Series, and also won a Peabody and GLAAD Award.

Tierney has been announced as the writer and director of "Alexander," an adaptation of Canadian author Annabel Lyon's novel "The Golden Mean," a drama exploring Alexander the Great's relationship with his tutor, Aristotle. He is also set to release a behind-the-scenes companion book titled "I'll Believe in Anything: The Making of Heated Rivalry Season 1," featuring annotated scripts, scene directions, intimacy choreography, costume details, and exclusive insights from Tierney, executive producer Brendan Brady, and "Heated Rivalry" author Rachel Reid. Tierney continues to contribute to Canadian and international film and television as a multifaceted creator.
