Jackson Katz

Jackson Katz, Ph.D., is an educator, author, and scholar-activist who is internationally renowned for his groundbreaking work in the promotion of gender equity and prevention of gender-based violence, as well as his pioneering contributions to media literacy education. He is also one of the world’s leading experts on the role of masculinity in politics – especially presidential politics.

An acclaimed orator and lecturer, Katz has delivered thousands of lectures and conducted hundreds of leadership trainings in all fifty states, eight Canadian provinces, and every continent except Antarctica. Katz’s dynamic and engaging multimedia presentations combine cutting-edge analysis of masculinity, media, sex, and politics with a call to action – especially for men. He headlines fundraisers, delivers conference keynotes, and conducts leadership training for leaders in the public and private sectors in the U.S. and around the world.

His TEDx talk, Violence Against Women is a Men's Issue, has been translated into 27 languages and has more than 5.5 million total views. With a passionate communication style that leavens topics of grim seriousness with moments of lightness and humor, Katz’s work invites men into the conversation, rather than indicts them as potential misogynists and abusers.

Dr. Katz is the creator and co-founder of the mixed-gender, multiracial Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) program, one of the longest-running and most widely influential gender violence prevention initiatives in North America and beyond, and the first major program of its kind in the college and professional sports culture, and all branches of the U.S. military.
