Jack Lowden

Jack Lowden is a Scottish actor known for his work across stage, television, and film. Lowden graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and began his career with the National Theatre of Scotland, starring as Cammy in the production of "Black Watch," which toured internationally. He received critical recognition for his performance as Oswald in Richard Eyre's adaptation of "Ghosts," earning both an Olivier Award and the Ian Charleson Award. Lowden was also named one of Screen International's UK Stars of Tomorrow.

Lowden's international screen breakthrough came with the role of Nikolai Rostov in the BBC miniseries "War & Peace." He went on to appear in major films, including portraying a fighter pilot in Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" and taking on the role of Morrissey in the biopic "England Is Mine." For his performance in the Scottish thriller "Calibre," Lowden won the British Academy Scotland Award for Best Film Actor. He also received an EE BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination for his work in the comedy-drama "Fighting with My Family." In the biopic "Benediction," Lowden played Siegfried Sassoon and earned a second Scottish BAFTA.

On television, Lowden stars as River Cartwright in the Apple TV+ series "Slow Horses," a spy drama that has received critical acclaim. His portrayal of an MI5 operative has led to nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Lowden also led the BBC and Paramount+ drama series "The Gold."

In addition to acting, Lowden has expanded into producing, serving as a producer on the horror thriller "Kindred," executive producer on the biographical drama "Benediction," and producer on the drama "The Outrun." He was cast as Mr. Darcy in Netflix's adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice" and as Bernie Gunther in Apple TV+'s period detective series "Berlin Noir," based on Philip Kerr's novels.
