Hubert Davis

Hubert Davis served as the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team from 2021 to 2026. Prior to this, he was an assistant coach for the same team from 2012 until his promotion. Davis's coaching career was marked by several noteworthy accomplishments, including the ACC regular season championship in 2024 and a successful run to the NCAA Division I regional champion – Final Four in 2022. His leadership skills were recognized in 2024 when he was named ACC Coach of the Year.

Before his coaching career, Davis established a powerful presence on the court as a player. He was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1992 and played in the NBA until 2004 for teams including the Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks. Davis left a lasting legacy in the NBA with his exceptional three-point shooting percentages, setting franchise records for both the Knicks and the Mavericks. His prowess behind the arc was also evidenced during his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina, where he held the record for the highest career three-point percentage.

Off the court, Davis contributed his insights and expertise to the wider sports community as a college basketball analyst for ESPN. He served as a studio analyst and panelist on "College GameDay", sharing his knowledge and understanding of the game. Davis's experiences as a player, coach, and analyst, coupled with his groundbreaking role as the first African-American head coach of the UNC basketball program, make him a unique figure in the world of basketball.
