Henry Greely

Henry T. Greely is the Deane F. and Kate Edelman Johnson Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, where he directs the Center for Law and the Biosciences and chairs the Steering Committee of the Stanford Program in Neuroscience and Society. Greely co-founded the Law and Biosciences Program and the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics. His scholarship examines the intersections of law and emerging sciences, including human genetic engineering, neuroethics, and the impact of neuroscience on criminal justice, contributing to policy and public discourse on biotechnology, genetics, and neuroscience.

Greely is the author of books such as "The End of Sex and the Future of Human Reproduction," which examines advancements in reproductive technologies, and "Bottoms Up and the Burdens of Benedict," as well as numerous articles in legal and scientific journals. He has contributed to national and international policy as a member of the California Advisory Committee on Genetic Testing and other organizations, and has testified before Congress on issues related to genetic privacy and discrimination.

Greely teaches courses on biotechnology law and neuroethics and participates in global initiatives, including the International Neuroethics Society. His public commentary addresses topics such as CRISPR gene editing and the ethical boundaries of human enhancement, reflecting his role in connecting scientific innovation with societal values in the fields of law, bioethics, and neuroscience.
