Heather Carroll Cox

Heather Carroll Cox holds the position of President of Sapphire Digital at Zelis Healthcare, bringing her extensive experience in digital healthcare and analytics to the forefront. Her previous role was the Chief Digital Health and Analytics Officer at Humana, a position that saw her leading digital care delivery operations and enterprise advanced analytics. Prior to Humana, Cox served as Chief Technology and Digital Officer at USAA, where she was instrumental in personalizing and digitally enabling experiences for members.

One of Cox's significant contributions to the finance and technology sector was the founding of Citi FinTech at Citigroup, where she served as CEO. The initiative was dedicated to integrating global fintech innovation, a task that required exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of both finance and technology. This venture was a testament to Cox's innovative approach, leading to her being named one of the 10 Most Innovative CEOs in Banking by Bank Innovation in 2015 and Digital Banker of the Year by American Banker.

In addition to her roles in healthcare and fintech, Cox has shown her leadership prowess in various board positions. She currently serves on the NRG Energy Board of Directors, the Nominating and Governance committee, and the Compensation committee. In August 2022, she was elected to the Atlantic Union Bankshares Board of Directors and now serves on the Audit committee.

Cox holds a bachelor of arts degree in international economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
