Harry G. Broadman is a globally recognized international finance executive, private equity investor, trade negotiator, and expert in business growth, risk mitigation, corporate governance, and innovation. With over 35 years of experience, he has reinvented himself across various senior roles in the private sector, while also serving as a public official, professor, and journalist. After earning his doctorate in economics in his mid-20s, Broadman became a thought leader on the shifting dynamics of global markets, long before "globalization" was widely discussed. His insights have driven operational strategies that enhance firms' competitiveness, particularly in emerging markets. Broadman has worked in more than 80 countries across five continents, including China, India, Russia, Latin America, and Africa. He has advised C-suites and boards of companies such as IBM, GE, Coca-Cola, Exxon-Mobil, and Pepsi, among others.
As a keynote speaker, Broadman is known for his forward-thinking perspectives on how changes in international markets impact business decision-making. His presentations, which combine insight with humor, leave audiences with practical takeaways and a deep understanding of the non-linear nature of market dynamics. He has been widely featured in media outlets like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BBC, CNN, and The Financial Times. Currently, he is a Partner and Chair of the Emerging Markets Practice at Berkeley Research Group LLC, focusing on international trade disputes, antitrust cases, corporate governance, and regulatory matters. He is also a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University and a regular columnist for Forbes, Newsweek, and Gulf News.
Broadman has served on several boards, including ArmorText, PartnersGlobal, and The Corporate Council on Africa. He previously led PricewaterhouseCoopers' Global Business Growth Strategy Consulting Practice and served as the firm’s Chief Economist. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at the World Bank and served as Chief of Staff for the President's Council of Economic Advisers. He has authored multiple books, including Africa’s Silk Road: China and India’s New Economic Frontier, and is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Broadman holds degrees in economics and history from Brown University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan.
