Hank Capps

Hank Capps is a leader in digital health innovation, serving as executive vice president, chief information and digital officer at Wellstar Health System, and president and co-founder of Catalyst by Wellstar. At Wellstar, one of Georgia’s largest health systems, Capps has advanced digital strategy, transformed patient care delivery, and launched Catalyst, a health-care-sponsored, early-stage, multi-sector venture fund. His leadership has contributed to the creation of digital platforms, the launch of consumer-facing mobile applications, and the modernization of core technology infrastructure, earning Wellstar recognitions such as the HIMSS Stage 7 Ranking and the Epic Gold Star 9 award.

Before joining Wellstar, Capps held senior leadership roles at Novant Health, where he pioneered virtual care, developed patient engagement tools, and led the expansion of the physician network. His initiatives included launching medical supply drone operations in the United States and overseeing the implementation of electronic health record systems, which received national awards for quality and digital transformation.

A practicing family medicine physician for more than 17 years, Capps is a national speaker on healthcare technology, patient experience, and innovation. He has received accolades including the Georgia CIO of the Year ORBIE Award and is recognized for leading teams through complex digital transformations. His public speaking engagements, such as at the Aspen Ideas Festival, highlight his expertise in healthcare delivery, technology, and venture innovation.
