H.E.R.

Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, professionally known as H.E.R. (an acronym for "Having Everything Revealed"), is a Grammy Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist recognized for her influence on contemporary soul music. Wilson displayed musical talent from a young age, performing as a child under the name Gabi Wilson. At age 10, she played an Alicia Keys song on the piano for the Today Show and performed at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. She also appeared at the BET Awards, sang a tribute to Keys at the ASCAP Awards, and competed on Radio Disney's "The Next BIG Thing." Wilson signed a record deal with Sony's RCA Records at age 14.

After a period away from the public eye, Wilson re-emerged as H.E.R., releasing her debut EP "H.E.R. Vol. 1" while maintaining anonymity to focus attention on her music. Her second compilation, "I Used to Know Her," achieved commercial success and received five Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for the single "Hard Place."

Wilson's music often addresses social issues. Her single "I Can't Breathe" won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year, the Ashford and Simpson Songwriter of the Year Award at the Soul Train Music Awards, and the Video For Good Award at both the MTV Europe Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards. She performed "America the Beautiful" at the Super Bowl, showcasing her skills as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, bass, drums, and guitar. Her debut full-length studio album, "Back of My Mind," received critical acclaim and peaked at number six on the Billboard 200.

Wilson's achievements span music, film, and television. She has earned five Grammy Awards from 25 nominations, an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Fight for You" from the film "Judas and the Black Messiah," and a Children's and Family Emmy Award. She is the first Academy Award winner born in Generation Z. Wilson also won the Children's and Family Emmy Award for her work on Barack and Michelle Obama's animated children's series, "We the People." In addition to her music career, Wilson made her acting debut as Belle on Disney's musical television special "Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration" and starred as Mary Squeak Agnes in the film adaptation of "The Color Purple." Wilson's career highlights her vocal talent, instrumental versatility, and engagement with social commentary, making her a prominent figure in R&B, soul, and contemporary music.
