Gus Kenworthy

Gus Kenworthy is a professional freestyle skier, actor, and LGBTQ advocate known for his achievements in slopestyle, halfpipe, and big air events. Kenworthy began skiing at a young age and secured his first sponsorship at 16. He has consistently reached the podium in major international competitions, establishing himself among the top park skiers globally.

Kenworthy represented the United States in the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, where he earned a silver medal in slopestyle. During the Sochi Olympics, he drew attention to animal welfare by arranging for the rescue of stray dogs, highlighting the plight of rescue animals and becoming an advocate for animal rights.

Kenworthy publicly came out as gay on the cover of ESPN Magazine, becoming the first action-sports star to do so. Rolling Stone recognized his impact on LGBTQ visibility in sports. He later competed as one of two openly gay men representing the United States at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where a televised moment with his partner became a significant milestone for LGBTQ representation in athletics.

Kenworthy has partnered with organizations such as Humane Society International, the Trevor Project, and the Happy Hippie Foundation, supporting causes including animal welfare, suicide prevention among LGBTQ youth, and assistance for individuals living with HIV and AIDS. He participated in the AIDS/LifeCycle ride, a 545-mile cycling event from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to raise funds for HIV and AIDS support services.

In addition to his athletic career, Kenworthy has appeared in television series including "American Horror Story," expanding his presence in entertainment.
