Greg Daniels

Greg Daniels is an Emmy Award-winning writer, showrunner, producer, and director known for his significant contributions to American television comedy. Daniels attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard University, where he collaborated with Conan O'Brien on the Harvard Lampoon. His career advanced when he joined the writing staff of "Saturday Night Live," earning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program. Daniels later wrote for influential series including "The Simpsons" and "Seinfeld" before moving into a creator role.

Alongside Mike Judge, Daniels co-created the animated series "King of the Hill" and established the animation company Bandera Entertainment. He received an Emmy Award for "King of the Hill" when the show won Outstanding Animated Program. Daniels' work is recognized for its focus on the humor found in everyday American life, a hallmark that continued with the creation of the American version of "The Office." The series achieved multi-generational popularity and earned Daniels two additional Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Daniels co-created "Parks and Recreation," a mockumentary-style series centered on the Parks Department of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The show received critical acclaim, winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series. Daniels' influence extends throughout the television industry, with writers from "The Office" such as Mike Schur and Mindy Kaling going on to create "Parks and Recreation," "The Good Place," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "The Mindy Project," and "Never Have I Ever."

Daniels has continued to innovate in television, co-creating "Upload," a science fiction comedy series for Amazon Prime Video that explores digital afterlife, and "Space Force," a Netflix series starring Steve Carell that satirizes the formation of a new branch of the U.S. military. Through Bandera Entertainment, Daniels is also involved with the Netflix animated series "Exploding Kittens" and a reboot of "King of the Hill."

Daniels' career and impact on television storytelling have been recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Outstanding Television Writer Award from the Austin Film Festival. His body of work has played a key role in shaping the modern American sitcom and continues to influence the entertainment industry.
