Graeme Le Saux

Graeme Le Saux is a prominent figure in English football, recognized for his technical skill as a left back and his contributions to the Premier League. During his senior career, Le Saux played for Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers, and Southampton, as well as the England national football team. He left Chelsea to join Blackburn Rovers, where he became a regular in the squad that won the Premier League title. Le Saux later returned to Chelsea for a then-record transfer fee for a defender, remaining with the club for six seasons before concluding his playing career at Southampton.

Le Saux was twice named in the Professional Footballers' Association Team of the Year, with Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea. He played a key role in Chelsea's victories in the League Cup, Cup Winners' Cup, and FA Cup. As an England international, Le Saux earned 36 caps, started all four of England's matches at the FIFA World Cup in France, and scored one international goal against Brazil. He was the first Channel Islander to be capped for England.

Le Saux pursued an Environmental Studies degree at Kingston University before focusing on football, and maintained a reputation for intellectual curiosity, often reading The Guardian and visiting museums. Throughout his career, he faced homophobic abuse from fans and players, a subject he addressed in his autobiography, "Left Field: A Footballer Apart." He is also a board member and consultant for RCD Mallorca.
