Girish Nadkarni

Girish Nadkarni is a physician-scientist and clinical informaticist, serving as chair of the Windreich Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Nadkarni also directs the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health and the Charles Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine, leading initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital health, and precision medicine. Nadkarni oversees the integration of AI into healthcare at Mount Sinai, including the development of AI facilities and educational tools designed to help clinicians and students utilize advanced technology to improve patient outcomes.

Nadkarni has contributed to both research and entrepreneurship, co-founding companies that have developed FDA-cleared AI-based diagnostics, including an AI bioprognostic for kidney disease. He holds multiple patents in the field. Nadkarni’s research includes more than 300 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and principal investigator roles on grants and contracts totaling over $45 million. His work has advanced precision cardiovascular and kidney care, with studies on predictive AI in healthcare and genetic risk factors for kidney disease.

Nadkarni is a public speaker featured at conferences such as the Aspen Ideas Festival and serves as an associate editor for npj Digital Medicine. He has received honors including the Harold Lamport Clinical Research Award and the Rising Star Award from ANIO. Nadkarni’s expertise includes AI assurance, ethical implementation, and translational medicine, positioning him as a recognized voice in healthcare technology, artificial intelligence in medicine, and digital health innovation.
