Gina Rodriguez

Gina Rodriguez is an actress, producer, and director known for her work in television, film, and voice acting. A graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained at the Atlantic Theater Company and Experimental Theatre Wing, Rodriguez began her career on stage before making her screen debut on "Law & Order." Early in her career, she appeared in guest roles on series such as "Army Wives," "The Mentalist," and held a recurring role on "The Bold and the Beautiful." Her portrayal of hip-hop artist Majo Tenorio in the independent musical-drama "Filly Brown," which screened at the Sundance Film Festival, garnered critical attention and marked a significant step in her career.

Rodriguez gained widespread recognition for her lead role as Jane Villanueva in The CW's satirical romantic dramedy "Jane the Virgin," which ran for five seasons. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. The show received a Peabody Award and was recognized by the American Film Institute as one of the top ten television programs of its debut year. Rodriguez was named one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people and was included on Oprah Magazine's SuperSoul 100 list of influential leaders.

Rodriguez has expanded her career across film and television, starring in motion pictures such as the disaster thriller "Deepwater Horizon," the science fiction film "Annihilation," the action thriller "Miss Bala," and the Netflix romantic comedy "Someone Great," which she also produced. Her voice acting includes the lead role in Netflix's animated series "Carmen Sandiego" and roles in animated features such as "Ferdinand," "Smallfoot," and "Scoob!" She also starred in and executive produced the ABC comedy series "Not Dead Yet" and co-hosted the ABC game show "Lucky 13" alongside Shaquille O'Neal. Rodriguez joined the cast of ABC's drama series "Will Trent" as a series regular.

In addition to her work on screen, Rodriguez is active in promoting diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. She founded I Can and I Will Productions, a production company focused on stories from underrepresented voices. Through the company, she executive produced and directed the pilot of Disney Plus's "Diary of a Future President," in which she also co-starred. Rodriguez serves on the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and, with her family, established the We Will Foundation to support underprivileged youth through arts, education, and financial literacy. She has spoken publicly about her diagnosis with Hashimoto's disease, a thyroid condition, which has influenced her advocacy for health and authenticity in the entertainment industry.
