Georgia Weidman

Georgia Weidman is a cybersecurity expert whose career encompasses penetration testing, security research, entrepreneurship, and education. She holds a Master of Science in computer science and maintains CISSP, CEH, and OSCP certifications. Weidman is the author of "Penetration Testing: A Hands-On Introduction to Hacking" and a contributor to the "Tribe of Hackers" series, both of which are recognized resources in cybersecurity education. Her book, published by No Starch Press, is considered a foundational text in penetration testing and ethical hacking.

Weidman is the founder of Shevirah, a company specializing in mobile device and Internet of Things security, and Bulb Security, a cybersecurity consultancy. Shevirah develops software for penetration test teams to assess mobile security solutions, supporting the security of enterprise endpoints such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, and IoT devices. Through the Mach37 cybersecurity accelerator, Weidman has served as an advisor, mentor, and investor in cybersecurity startups.

Weidman received a DARPA Cyber Fast Track grant to advance mobile device security, resulting in the open-source Smartphone Pentest Framework. She has been named a fellow of the New America Cybersecurity Initiative. Weidman has presented and trained at events and institutions including Black Hat, DEF CON, NSA, Oxford, RSA, and West Point, and has served as a subject matter expert with the CyberWatch Center's National Visiting Committee and the FTC's Home Inspector IoT security challenge.

Her work in smartphone exploitation has been featured internationally in print and on national television, including ABC, BBC, Fox, NBC, and in the PBS documentary "Roadtrip Nation: Life Hackers." She is the recipient of the Women's Society of CyberJutsu Pentest Ninja award. Weidman serves on the board of advisors for Cybrary and the nonprofit Digital Citizens Alliance, and is a member of the CyberWatch Center's National Visiting Committee. She is also an adjunct professor at University of Maryland Global Campus. Weidman is recognized for her technical expertise and contributions to cybersecurity, mobile security, and ethical hacking.
