George Civeris Biography
George Civeris is a comedian, writer, and editor based in Brooklyn.
His standup has appeared on Comedy Central, and he was selected as a New Face of Comedy at the Just for Laughs Festival and as a “Comedian You Should and Will Know in 2024” by Vulture. He has written for FOX's "Let's Be Real," Comedy Central's "Drag His Ass," the BBC's "Comedians vs. the News," Roku's "Gayme Show," and some top-secret projects he is not allowed to talk about.
Along with Sam Taggart, he co-hosts the podcast StraightioLab, which was named the best comedy podcast of 2022 by New York Magazine, and one of the best podcasts of the year by Esquire, Glamour, Nylon, and Time Magazine.
Previously, he was a senior editor at Gawker, and before that he was a senior researcher and editor at Columbia’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism. His non-comedy writing has appeared on The Outline, the Columbia Journalism Review, and elsewhere.
Civeris mostly grew up in Athens, Greece, with a short but unfortunately formative stint in suburban New Jersey.
His debut comedy special "A Sense of Urgency" is available from Comedy Dynamics on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Vimeo, Google Play, YouTube, and various other websites.
