Geoff Ralston

Geoff Ralston is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and a prominent voice in Silicon Valley on artificial intelligence and startup innovation. Ralston began his career by co-founding Four11, where he developed RocketMail, an early webmail service acquired by Yahoo and later transformed into Yahoo Mail. At Yahoo, he served as senior vice president and general manager of the Communications Business Unit, and later as chief product officer. He subsequently became CEO of Lala Media, Inc., a cloud music startup acquired by Apple.

Ralston co-founded the education technology accelerator Imagine K12, which supported startups such as ClassDojo and Remind before merging with Y Combinator. He joined Y Combinator and served as president, overseeing the funding of thousands of startups and contributing to the accelerator’s global reputation in technology entrepreneurship and venture capital.

Ralston launched the Safe Artificial Intelligence Fund to invest in early-stage startups focused on AI safety, security, and responsible deployment. The fund invests in companies developing solutions for AI risk mitigation, biosafety, interpretability, and misinformation. Ralston emphasizes that safety and security in artificial intelligence can align with profitability and technological progress, supporting for-profit companies that build tools to ensure trustworthy and responsible AI development. Ralston holds a Bachelor of Arts in computer science from Dartmouth College, a Master of Science in computer science from Stanford University, and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD.
